Welcome to the Young Black Jeweler's Initiative. This scholarship provides one skills-comprehensive 24 week program to Silvera School of Jewelry, a well-known trade school in the Bay Area for a single Black individual who's just starting out in career & wants to pursue a career in the metal arts. So, the goal of this scholarship is to prepare a young, Black metalsmith to enter the industry with a set of trade skills to excel at full-time employment, whether it be self-employed or as a bench jeweler in a company. Applicants must be Black, between the ages of 18 & 30, and reside in the Bay Area or be willing to relocate at their expense for the duration of the program. Our hope is that this provides an opportunity for a young Black individual to receive technical training that positions them to obtain immediate & sustained employment, as well as build a set of skills foundational for a long-term career.
