Jeanne’s Teardrop

A submission for Nor Hell a Fury, our 5th Annual Maker’s Competition in honor of 14th Century French pirate Jeanne de Clisson, the Lioness of Brittany, the real Godmother of Girlpower.

A single, bloody ruby tear against a backdrop of black onyx, the colors of her fleet, set in a very handmade way in a large 14k gold signet, a gold rectangle that would’ve been in fashion at the time, a ring for Jeanne’s later life, after she’d retired the piracy for the countryside, to remind her in subtle ways, of her time at sea. Size 7.
