You know you’re from the Bay Area when you wake up at 4 a.m. to the familiar rumble and roll over and go back to sleep. Seriously, though, how shitty would it be if it were the bigger one? Enter Fiat Lux and SF’s Department of Emergency Management. From now till the 18th, SFDEM’s hosting the city’s first Heroes Game. Rules are simple: find a few friends, download an app, then play some games to see whether or not you would die in a catastrophic event. Easy peasy!
Where do we come in? As you play the game you win points for, well, not dying in a catastrophic event. Points are matched with prizes — and we’re donating one of the top prizes in the game — the Benjamin Barrel: a one-of-a-kind hand fabricated pendant engraved with the City Seal’s Phoenix and made to hold your hundos in the event of an emergency. Seriously, though, it’s better than a damned PlayStation y’all! So sign up and win it! Even if you don’t win, you get to pretend you’re Batman for a (or another) week and maybe learn how much you would die in a catastrophic event. That’s a win-win-win.
