Fiat Lux Pops Up!

Secretly toiling away for months, we’re finally ready to give a sneak peek of Tempus, our shop’s first in-house line! So we’re teaming up with Veo Optics, our former neighbors who just moved into a killer space on Valencia & 19th, and popping up like a flash.

Join us from noon to 3 on Saturday, January 24th at Veo (798 Valencia St), to be one of the first to snag a sample from Tempus. We’ll also be bringing along our effortless Basics line, and some of the powerful one-of-a-kinds that you’ve come to know and love. Don’t sleep on this – it’s Tempus’ last public appearance till March!

Check out our Facebook Event page for more details. And see you Saturday!

Currently Compelled: Fools

Growing up my mom used to have a mug that said ‘Its hard to be humble when you’re Danish’. At the time my 4 year-old brain couldn’t quite comprehend what ‘humble’ meant – and why it was especially hard for Danes. Now of course I fully understand … mainly, because the Danes do it better … (see … point proven). Before this turns into something sponsored by the Danish tourism board  - let me get to the point: Michael Kvium!

Michael Kvium is a Danish sculptor/artiste extraordinaire who has been working on a series of paintings called ‘Fools’ since the 1990′s – it currently exceeds 200 paintings and is still expanding. The series explores universal themes related to human foolishness. Many paintings depict androgynous deformed figures that force us to consider humanity without the societal veils of sex, age or status, and instead contemplate our comically grotesque human condition.

Movie Night: Kenneth Anger

I’ve recently fallen down a rabbit hole of the surrealist, avant-garde films of Kenneth Anger. His films are vibrantly seductive and provocative, and the images he creates are hauntingly beautiful. His legacy is steeped in esotericism, the occult, and homoeroticism, which is even tingling to me in 2014 San Francisco.

Movie Night: Holy Mountain

As I was looking at these images, my co-worker asked me why this movie was made. My answer, I don’t care why. It’s mesmerizing. Eyeballs, pentagrams, jewelry, tattoos, helmets, animals, tarot, sex machines.
